We are saddened to report the death of Keith Jackson.

Dad Neston Sept 24

Keith was a stalwart of the Neston cricket team in the 60’s 70’s which enjoyed huge success in the Liverpool Competition. Although Keith was perhaps better known as a defensive hockey player( he won over 100 caps for Lancashire & played all his hockey for Northern Crosby) he was well known on the Wirral as a superb batsman & excellent slip fielder at Neston.

He was primarily an opening batsman but played anywhere in the top order as required by his team. He scored many hundreds for the club & was an integral member of the most successful cricket team the club ever had winning the Competition in 1965, 69 & 70.

Although talented enough to have represented the county as frequently at cricket as he did at hockey, Cheshire at that time seemed to be more interested in ‘style’ than ‘substance’ & as Keith was never the prettiest batsman he wasn’t selected as often as he should have been. He was however a prolific run scorer for Neston & the records show that he was one of the club’s best.

Following his retirement as a player he often visited the club on a Saturday as a spectator although in more recent times his poor health precluded him from doing so.

Keith's funeral will be held on the 24th September at 11am at St Nicolas Church, Burton, CH64 5TG, followed by refreshments here at the Club
