President Debbie Mason-Smith reflects on this year, and looks forward to the New Year.
To All of our Members,
2026 is almost upon us and I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has been part of the Club this year. We have had a wonderful year of sport and social events and that is down to the effort, enthusiasm and good spirit you all bring. The Club wouldn’t be what it is without the people who give their time to coach, volunteer, organise, support and have a few scoops at the bar.
Dave Goldstraw was awarded Club Person of the Year 2025. He is an outstanding volunteer at the Club, particularly in the Hockey Section where he plays many organisational roles as well as umpiring. Dave has come onto Councill this year and his input is very positive. He never looks for praise and is very modest about the volunteering he does at Neston.
I am particularly proud that for the 3rd year, in collaboration with the Neston Community, we hosted a charity Christmas Lunch at the Club for the people of the Neston area who are elderly or would be alone on the 25th December. Dan Wakefield helped organise this and tickled the ivories with some Christmas carols during the afternoon. Dan raised a staggering amount from Club Members to support this event which brought a particular cheer to those attending.
I hope you got the chance to relax over the Christmas break, to enjoy good food and share great company. I have been thinking about the members who we have lost this year and my love goes out to their families.
Thanks again for your continued support of the Club and particularly to Craig and all the staff who do a grand job throughout the year. We are looking forward to another fun filled and successful year in 2026.
With my best seasonal wishes to you all.
