Hello everyone and a warm welcome to our new members. We’ve had a hugely successful Marquee week and welcomed the new caterers for the weekend event, Horseradish. They presented top quality restaurant meals on the Thursday (to 650 people) and the Saturday Ball. The feedback was excellent.

One of our young tennis players has had extraordinary success, Lara Wedd became Cheshire Junior Player of the year and is soon to travel to the USA to study on a tennis scholarship. She has been a member at Neston since she was a young tot and her hard work and determination has paid off – having won many matches and titles on the road to success. She has a smile which melts your heart and we wish her all the best for the next chapter in her life. There has been more success on the tennis courts this Summer, and if you go to the Tennis tab you will find more information.

Bern Thorne (Club Secretary), Emma Nokes (Neston Club Sports Development Officer and I recently met up with the group of Ukrainian refugees staying in CH64 and invited them to look around The Club. We have offered free membership. They were so touched by our offer and some of the children have already attended our junior Summer Camps run by Emma Nokes. We hope that the mums and grandmothers will come down to join in the Yoga and maybe Racketball on a Monday evening.

Boys cricket has had a successful season so far and well look at this again in my next newsletter, when the season is finished.

Emma Nokes ran The Neston Hockey Festival last weekend, blessed with good weather. Fifteen teams played and the winning team were Rake and Tickle from Chester. They camped out in tents on the back pitch and each evening there was entertainment in The Cranston. Saturday was the live band night event in fancy dress and our chefs, Tom & Neil, provided well needed cooked breakfasts each morning. This is a great fund raiser for the Hockey Section and organised almost solely by Emma – Brilliant.

We held the Boys U13 Cricket Regional finals here in July and Girls National U15 & U13 Finals in August. Then on September 11th we will host the ECB Disability Premier League again, a great honour for us.

Anyone interested in yoga, men’s, woman’s or retirees, please contact the Club office for details.

On 25th August from 2pm, Jo Thorne and I will be serving home baked cakes and scones to The Thursday Group. It will give a well-earned rest to the regular bakers. So please come along and join in boule, bowls, croquet or mölkky and enjoy a chat with a drink from the bar or a cuppa and make some new friends.
