David was part of the 1957 Neston Cricket team that won the Liverpool and District Competition, captained by Ken Cranston. Also part of the the 1965 Neston Cricket winning team, captained by Brian Johnson of the same competition. Scoring a century against Wallasey that season. He was an all rounder taking 27 wickets in the 1961 season and 29 wickets in the 1962 season!

He represented Cheshire Cricket from 1963-1966 as both a batsman and mid pace bowler.

Furthermore, he played for Neston Hockey 1st team in the very first game in September 1963, captained by David Jellicoe and represented Cheshire Hockey.

He was part of Neston Squash first ever season in 1971, captaining the 1st team from 1978-1980!

He also played tennis at Neston, often partnering Peter Renshaw in the club doubles championship which they won regularly!

He was one of only two that we know about that played 1st team for all of Neston’s four sports, the other being Julian Manchett. If Neston played Rugby and shot, he would no doubt have played for that 1st team! He played 1st team for Chester Rugby and was a very good clay and game shooter.

He last came to the club in 2015 as part of the celebration lunch for the cricket 1965 team.

David's funeral will be held at Landican on Friday 28th April at 12:45PM followed by a reception at the Red Fox.
